  1. Very true and fitting.

Now to ‘logicalize’ (a better word would be ‘to rationalize’, but I felt the urge to invent my own.) when reading Sun Tzu’s the Art of War I found this and I qoute [translated]:

Therefore in chariot fighting, when ten or more chariots have been taken, those should be rewarded who took the first. Our own flags should be substituted for those of the enemy, and the chariots mingled and used in conjunction with ours. The captured soldiers should be kindly treated and kept.

    18. This is called, using the conquered foe to augment one’s own strength.

    19. In war, then, let your great object be victory, not lengthy campaigns.

    20. Thus it may be known that the leader of armies is the arbiter of the people’s fate, the man on whom it depends whether the nation shall be in peace or in peril.

This is why I say Islam is based on pure logic and any sentiment in Islam is derived from logic.

To say a few words about Sun Tzu, his book the Art of War is considered the Bible of War and Strategy but it not only applies to Military applications but any field of life where logic dominates.

    Check this out!

  2. For a moment there I thought that the post was about the letter that Umar (r.a.) wrote to the Nile.

“… and do not say: ‘Our enemy is worse than us, so they will not overpower us.’ …” — Only a person like him can say that. 🙂

  3. @ Anas
this is the only source i can provide (given with the youtube video): http://islamworld.net/docs/jihad.html
have a look, its a great site on its own

    @ Safi
my list of books that i need to get is growing so rapidly and im not being able to get them! this book is definitely on the list

    @ Saadat
true…wat else can be said about a man of his stature!
i have seen the ‘hoax’ letter that is being circulated as the letter sent to the Nile, i have no idea where i can find the authentic one

  4. hey, don’t read a book cuz I told you to! besides, the book is a little for the shrewd ambitious nuts ke me and not for the kind hearted dames like you.

If you like it, (then there is something seriously wrong with you!) the next step would be to read Machievelli’s ‘The Prince’. you should read its review first though, cuz that book messes with your head.
