The last few weeks were a little disappointing as the pace had started to become much slower but I’m glad how things developed in last night’s episode and this is precisely the reason why it decided to do the review ASAP.
Arman found out Pareesa was violated as a child and that has made him even more careful in how he treats her. He is a true hero I must say. Not the most handsome or the richest lead character in drama serials but he definitely has the most adorable and charming traits. Pareesa has fallen in love and rightly so. She is making every effort to have a normal relationship (sans intimacy) with arman. The new soundtrack that has been introduced since they moved to a new place is beautiful and suits their situation perfectly.
Mahmood is content and satisfied that arman is settling down well in his new life and mehmood’s mistakes are not affecting his song’s life any more. He has started to believe that allah has forgiven him because he has been repenting for so long.
Arman has taken up the job at Pareesa’s father’s office and get seems to be quite content in life when to celebrate arman’s new job, his father in law forces him to have a few drinks with him. The scene between arman and Pareesa right after was the crux of the episode and the twist in the plot that came with it was shown in a splendid manner. Both Mohsin Abbas and Kubra khan were beyond awesome. The way the truth was revealed to arman was very realistic as well.
Asif raza Mir, Kubra khan and imran Abbas haider are very talented actors and they are all playing roles that are not only different but extremely difficult to portray on screen. They are all doing complete justice to their respective roles.
Can’t wait for the next episode!
Writer: Mustafa Afridi
Director: Siraj ul Haq
Actors: Ahmed Ali, Yumna Zaidi and Anum Ahmed
It’s been a year since I have started dreading Monday nights. Mann Mayal and Sanam have both been really horrendous. With stellar star cast and well known writer/director combo, both these serials turned out to be huge disappointments. So when I found out about Yeh Raha Dil I decided to give it a chance because it did not boast of any big stars. All it had going in its way was the name of the writer : Mustafa Afridi. Unfortunately his only work that I had seen so far was Sang E marmar and from the promos, this serial looked poles apart. So with zero expectations, I started watching the serial and since then have been pleasantly surprised.
Yeh raha dil is adapted from a well known Korean serial but its been presented in such a way that it looks like a complete pakistani project. The look of all the characters, their relationships with each other and their dialogues are all very Desi to say the least.
*Spoiler Alert *
Now, let’s come to the story. It’s about a young, bubbly, happy go lucky Hayat (Yumna Zaidi) who aspires to be a writer. She lives alone in her mansion as her father abandoned them after her parents divorced when she was young and her mother died a few years ago. So she does have property but in terms of cash, she is completely broke. She depends a lot on her best friend, salman, who happens to be in financial trouble himself. Salman and his wife ‘gift’ Hayat a trip to Nepal on her birthday. On the otherhand, there is Zaki (ahmed Ali) who is head over heals in love with the very beautiful nida (anum ahmed). Zaki is the only son of his rich parents and although he is very spoilt, he is gentle and kind. Zaki’s father thinks Zaki and nida might not be a good match and rejects the Idea completely. Zaki being used to having his own way decides to just pack his bags and leave for Nepal.
As of now, Zaki and Hayat have become good friends. Nida is jealous of Hayat. And in amidst all this, salman has conned hayat and has sold her house to Zaki’s dad before absconding with his wife.
Yeh raha dil has surprised me pleasantly in more ways than one. All the actors are complete naturals and they fit their roles like hand in glove. The dialogues are a treat and comedy is just right, never on the top or cheap. The story is like a breath of fresh air… No saas bahu emotional dramey bazi and older people are also shown to love their spouses in a way which is not only relatable but also very cute.
So far the drama has been really good. It does not boast of any big names like may Ali or hamza Ali Abbas but it has far more substance than a lot of serials that we seen in recent times. Plus, it’s not preachy and not a form of protest against any social issue. Just a light romantic comedy, done the right way.

So what do you do when you have two young kids, no culinary skills, no helper, laundry still screaming for attention and your little one has her birthday coming up! You start panicking?
Well, especially yes if you are living in singapore and are on a budget.
This year I decided to celebrate Duaa’s birthday on a budget beside the pool with a few friends of both kids and perhaps 2-3 of my close friends. I wanted something very casual but the cake has to be the most important thing in a birthday party no matter how extravagant or casual the party is. The lady who I have been turning to for the past two years for all our ‘cake’ needs was travelling and that’s when I found out that a friend, Ruqaiya has recently launched her business too. The best thing about her is that she can do all sorts of desserts and you are not limited to cakes only. The next problem was I had only seen pics of her cakes, who did look pretty but I had no idea how they tasted. So, I just trusted her blindly. Or let’s say not exactly blindly because I had already tasted some stuff she had made and it was absolutely amazing to say the least.
Finally I ordered cake pops, cake and cookies from her on snow white theme.
I gave her a few pictures and a few instructions so that she would be free to use her own creativity too. The cake, cake pops and cookies all looked better than the pictures I had given her and the taste was absolutely mouth watering. To top it off her rates are just as good. She didn’t over charge and packed everything with finesse.
It’s hard to believe that she has recently started her business and is just so exceptionally talented . She has been doing various baking and decorating courses to enhance her skills.
This is what she has to say herself, “I am a mother of two daughters (4 and 2) who are crazy about sweets. I am from Pakistan and moved to Singapore couple of years back. I loved baking since I was a student. I actually made my first cake in a pressure cooker:p Looking the shine in my daughters eye as they see the cake gives me push to be more creative and try something different! Over the period, I have experimented with variety of different cakes. I love making decorating cakes with gumpaste, fondant and buttercream. I like the freedom to play with my innovative skills to put the customer’s idea into reality. I am happy to have received very encouraging feedback from my clients so far! My favourite cake so far is the Frozen Castle, which I made for my daughter’s birthday.”
Please visit her Facebook page for more pictures and support her little business to help her nurture her talent.
