So you need to buy a gift?

If you are anything like me  you know how hard it is to find a perfect gift. It is one of the most daunting task possible. I find shopping centers hectic places, and mostly I get stressed out if and when I can’t find a nice gift. For the last few years, I have tried to give more meaningful gifts to people. It needs to be useful to the recipient and I have to be sure that it will be used by the recipient and not passed onto someone else. My pursuit for that perfect gift has led me to discover a lot of crafters who make the perfect personalised gift for any occasion.

Although, sometimes a gift basket with generic products is enough but for people who are really close to you, adding a few personalised extras go a long way.

In my search I came across a lovely online craft shop, La Vie En Rose.

The best thing about La Vie En Rose is that they not only have a range of products for you to choose from, they are willing to make changes according to your needs and budget. You can also bring your own designs to the table. They have everything from couple shirts to coffee mugs and from key chains to notebooks. And they can all be customised according to your needs.

The owner of Rose En Vie La, Rameesha, is a young entrepreneur who listens to her clients and works hard to cater to all their needs. She is extremely enthusiastic about her work and this is what she said about her work,

“I was nineteen and on my gap year. I wouldn’t say I was sad about being home but I was very uneasy and unsatisfied with how my life was.
So one day I just randomly thought about starting what I’ve been wanting to do for the longest time. Just hitting it in the air, entirely dependent on what if.
I messaged my entire friend list that if you need help finding the perfect gift, I’m the one you contact. And a minute later, I got my first order.

It’s been almost a year, my venture is still infant, growing up slowly and gradually. But I couldn’t be happier with it!

The best feeling in the world is when you put your heart and all your effort into something and the other says a few words of appreciation. It takes away all the exhaustion.”

Headless Women Of Bollywood-Part 4

It’s a man’s job to respect women, but it’s a women’s job to give him something to respect

The film industry of Bollywood was once known for its traditional attires and ruled the global cinemas for decades. With the dawn of 21st century, Bollywood inclination towards headless women has been increased & actresses themselves choose to self-objectify their personalities. The item songs have taken a vital position in every Bollywood movie that is also collaborated with vulgar posters to attract the public grasp.

The movement- Headless women of Hollywood was in full swing in Europe when we witnessed Bollywood joining the hands of Hollywood to self-objectify a women’s character.

Here we will analyze some other posters of Bollywood movies that will ultimately leave you speechless as whether displaying a headless woman on posters is the need of character or a fishy game against a woman.

GreatGrand Masti:

If you have a look at the poster of this movie, you will get a clear idea as to how men visualize a women’s body. It may not be true for all men but the point here is that women are repeatedly presented as pleasure toy for men. The poster also highlights that the GreatGrand Masti comes from being obsessive to so many women.

The movie’s plot is related to three friends who are unhappy with their marital life and looking for something to enjoy their lives & what is their something? Obviously, a woman who is an object used for their pleasure!

Kya Kool Hain Hum 3:

x720-2Be

This movie came in three different parts & with every release of its new part, the movie’s poster highlighted headless women more boldly. The movie’s storyline revolves around men who opt for a porn star profession to earn money.  So, the poster would have highlighted men’s nudity to meet the demand of the storyline. But here again, women are chosen as glamorous & vulgar characters to publicize the movie for generating the revenue. The directors are just craving for revenue without giving a damn to a women’s character.

This series of headless women of Bollywood will end in our next post.  So, Stay tuned for the last part to help us change these bitter realities!

What Women Want

6F94388E-BA02-4A28-B307-E527E38F05CBWhat Women Want
Yes that is the name of the popular Hollywood romantic comedy starring Mel Gibson, but it is also the eternal question that men, women, society as a whole needs an answer to. Each individual has a different answer (if they have one at all), as Gibson finds out by the end of the movie, there is no one thing that women want but most of all they want love and respect. Not to be treated as objects or rungs on the ladder to success. Although women are the focus of the movie it is true for everyone, even plants and animals.
Respect is a very simple yet very large word, it stands for a basic human right, it encompasses dignity and attitude and it simply means giving each living thing its due. It’s as basic as the right to live. An animal in the wild respects this balance in the world, examples of this can be found in the fact that wild animals rarely kill for fun or sport, only when the need for survival kicks in. When you respect life itself then you respect the fact that everyone has a place in this world, is connected to the world around them, and that the very niche they occupy is important and affects everyone and everything around them. If taught to respect we understand the true equality of mankind.
When we do not teach our children basic respect we are depriving them of following a law of nature, we are bringing up the creepy boys who prey on vulnerable women but feel their ‘honour’ is in line if their mothers/daughters/sisters/wives are being preyed upon. We are bringing up girls who think they can only climb the ladder of success if they use other people to stand up upon; we are bringing up individuals who do not spare a thought for those who are working for them, for animals and nature who are at their mercy.
It is true that most of us are taught to respect men only, especially those who have some power over us and then men also get the larger portion of respect when it comes to women’s rights as individuals. So let’s promise on this women’s day to respect one another, to respect humanity, to respect dignity, to respect nature, to respect life and most of all to respect those who give so much and demand so little. Let’s learn and then teach the next generation to respect women and respect life.

Mental illnesses explained: Postpartum Depression

You’d think there’s nothing better than holding your newborn in your arms, than becoming a parent. In between the pleasure and joy of giving birth is a period of depression and anxiety in some mothers.

Postpartum depression is a term known to many but seldom understood. Our society brushes it under the carpet, labeling it as a mood swing. What we fail to realize is that postpartum depression is an actual illness and needs to be addressed the same way as any other mental illness does.
This spell of low moods, anxiety and depression can continue for months after giving birth and can worsen to a psychotic condition if neglected. While the root cause of it is still under scrutiny, you can’t deny its existence. Surprisingly, not only new mothers but also fathers might be affected.

Unfortunately in Pakistan where mental illness awareness is still in its infancy, the only solution to postpartum depression is thought of as getting closing to religion and reciting the Quran. It’s true these practices give a sense of peace and relaxation but they are not a viable treatment to a real mental disease.

Identifying the condition isn’t black and white. You can’t run a lab test and find out whether it’s postpartum depression you’re suffering from.

There can be multiple manifestations of postpartum depression. Keeping a sharp eye out for the signs can help you reach a quick diagnosis. According to studies, around 15% women experience symptoms of postpartum depression. Some of these women have a past history of depression while others might be experiencing depression for the first time after giving birth.
If you or your loved one has been showing a lack of interest in activities after giving birth, has brief crying spells, prefers to stay alone for most of the day or even neglects the needs of their newborn, then postpartum depression is highly likely.

Postpartum depression is treated by not only therapy but also pharmacological intervention. If you or a loved one is suffering from it, it’s high time you visit your psychiatrist and acknowledge your condition – it’s important for you and your newborn’s wellbeing.

Best Beauty Trends in 2017

As 2017 has just ended, beauty geeks around the world are reflecting on all the trends that rocked our world this year. 2017 wasn’t the trendiest year when it comes to makeup and fashion that’s for sure. But there were a couple of them that deserve some recognition.

For desi people like you and I, we couldn’t really get into all of the fashion trends like buzz cuts and bleach blonds. But there were others that were seriously popular here probably more than anywhere else.

1. Adidas Superstar Sneakers
The plain white pair of sneakers were literally everywhere this year! At first I was surprised how everyone could afford high-end brand sneakers so easily. Well, not all the superstar sneakers you see people wearing around you are original Adidas. Tons of online shops and Facebook pages started offering these white sneakers at less than half the price!

2. Face Masks
I can’t be the only one who saw a friend on Snapchat wearing a charcoal mask at least once a week. These face masks were super popular this year especially the charcoal one. With all the hype around it, I don’t see the trend ending next year either!

3. Glitter Lipstick
Honestly, the glitter lipstick trend wasn’t that crazily followed by Pakistanis. It did, however, set new lip makeup standards across the globe. But with the glitter health controversy that sparked this year, this trend might see its demise as fast as choker necklaces did.

4. Poppin’ Highlighter
Highlighters were always a part of a complete makeup routine for many people but the obsession over aggressive highlighters has only just begun. With the Fenty Beauty line and Huda Beauty highlighters getting better and better, the shine on our cheekbones might get blinder and blinder.

5. K-Beauty
Korean Beauty, just like Korean Pop, was undeniably a showstopper this year. K-beauty completely revolutionized skincare and it keeps growing. I’m not complaining though – these products actually work like a miracle!
